Groups for Men

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP: We have a support group for current and surviving cancer patients and their loved ones/caregivers. They meet on the third Thursday of the month (through May of 2024) from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Community Center! This group is led by Patti Simmers, who has been an oncology nurse for most of her 34 years in the medical field. She currently works as a Breast Nurse Navigator, but she has experience caring for all types of pediatric and adult cancers. If you have any questions, please contact Patti at 702-445-3610.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS:  Here at STM, we have over 6,000 registered people. Our parish has many needs requiring men to step up and help when needed. Men, if you’ve been looking for new ways to expand your faith, service, and fellowship, check out our Knights of Columbus group. There is a $40 annual dues fee for the Knights of Columbus (first year free). To join the Knights of Columbus or to transfer/reinstate your council you can do it online at www.kofc.org. For questions on KoC, please contact Tom Melton, Grand Knight at 702-510-5481. For all things KoC, click here.

LEGION OF MARY:  The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active cooperation in Mary’s and the church’s work. Its priority is the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through the visitation of families, and the sick, both in their homes and hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. The praesidium holds a weekly meeting where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. Every legionary is required to carry out weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary. If you’re interested in joining, please contact Linda Dayawon at 702-956-4272.

MEN’S CLUB:  The mission of the Men’s Club is to unite the men of St Thomas More to promote spiritual and social interest, and to aid in the work of the parish. Our guiding principles are these three pillars; Faith, Fellowship, and Service. Be sure to keep up with the weekly bulletin for details on meetings, social gatherings, etc. For all Men's Club things, click here. For questions on the Men's Club, please email stmoremensclub@gmail.com

MEN’S SMALL (PRAYER) GROUP:  The weekly meetings are every Thursday at 6:30 pm in the Community Center. We are growing in faith and fellowship through prayer, reading, and discussing the weekly Liturgy, etc. The group works on a "drop in week by week when you can” basis. Please call or text Mark at 708-287-7120 (not 702). New members are always welcome!  **Our summer meetings are not weekly and they've been starting a little earlier. Please check in with Mark before attending.

SMALL CHURCH COMMUNITIES:  In the earliest history of the Christian movement members met in each other’s homes for prayer, mutual support, a communal discernment of the presence and movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and the sharing of Eucharist. In recent years, around the globe, this original design is being re-created in both rural and urban settings. St. Thomas More joins with many other Catholic parishes and communities in embracing the concept of Small Church Communities and in offering this opportunity to its parishioners. Small Church Communities provide people the opportunity to connect with other Catholics who strive to integrate their faith with their ordinary daily lives in families, in careers, in citizenship, and in social responsibility. Each SCC determines its own schedule and place for meetings; they use the Sunday Scriptures for the coming week as the focus for their reflection; they pray together in simple ways, and they often undertake some social service as a group. To join a group or for more information, please contact the Parish Office at 702-361-3022.
