At St. Thomas More, we offer a two-day program for engaged couples called Engagement Experience. This program is required for all couples getting married at St. Thomas More. It is also available for couples who are planning to get married at another Catholic Church. The two-day Experience happens three times a year on scheduled weekends, but it is not overnight.

About: For couples, engagement is both an exciting and stressful time. The excitement comes with the anticipation of formally committing themselves and their lives to one another in an intimate partnership. The stresses come on many levels, from the couple’s fears about making such an awesome commitment to dealing with the wedding arrangements, and everything in between. Couples are often tempted to use the time of engagement solely as the time to plan and arrange the wedding. 

While the wedding itself is important, as it reflects a couple’s willingness to proclaim and celebrate their love with their families and friends, the time of engagement is much more significant. What happens during this time has an influence on what the couple’s married life will be like. This is an important period for the engaged couple to focus and prepare for the sacrament of marriage. Obviously, marriage is a serious call from God: a vocation. That’s why the Church calls it a “Sacrament of Vocation.” 

For couples, it can be a time of opportunity, deepening love, spiritual growth, and new understandings and experiences. For those wishing to enter into Christian marriage, the importance of this time is heightened due to the Sacrament they will be sharing.

• Faith in Marriage;

All sessions are held in the St. Thomas More Community Center.

Cost: $150.00 per couple.
