If your child is older than 7 and is not baptized, they will need to follow the RCIA process. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. We modify this process for children. This is a 2-year process.
In the first year, students will attend class with their peers or age group and attend Mass regularly. In the second year, we focus on preparing your child to be Baptized, Confirmed, and receive their First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil, the Saturday night before Easter Sunday. Again, regular attendance in class and Mass is required to prepare children to be fully initiated Catholics!
Joining RCIA is a big commitment for both your child and your family. There are many classes for parents and children. Mass attendance is required, and there are many Rites that take place with the entire parish at Mass and in the Cathedral with the Bishop. We look forward to walking with you and your child on their faith journey. For more information, please contact Jenifer by emailing [email protected] or calling 725-204-9912.
