Sacrament of Baptism for Infants

The celebration of baptism begins the initiation and faith journey of your child and is a joyful experience for our community of faith as it brings new life into our parish. Having your child baptized also marks the beginning of new responsibilities and commitment on the part of you, the parents, and the St. Thomas More Catholic Community. Through this sacrament, our goal is to journey with you and your family in support of your family’s spiritual needs. It is our honor and pleasure to accompany you as you begin to pass on the faith to your child. We take these responsibilities and commitments very seriously and are excited to partner with you in the faith formation of your child.

When do Baptisms take place? For infants and children under the age of 7, baptisms are celebrated during the weekend Mass you and your family attend or on Sundays at 1:30 pm in the Church.

Baptism Preparation Information: Our Baptism Preparation session, which is required, is offered on the first Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise announced) in the Church at 6:30 pm. This session can be attended at any time (even before the baby is born). It is important for both the parents and the godparents to attend this session. If the godparents belong to another Catholic community, they can attend a baptism preparation session at their parish and provide a letter or certificate of completion. To attend, please fill out the form below.

Adult Baptism: For adults today, the Church, after the Second Vatican Council, has restored the order of the Catechumenate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It outlines the steps for the formation of catechumens, bringing their conversion to the faith to a greater maturity. It helps them respond more deeply to God's gracious initiative in their lives and prepares them for union with the Church community. This process is meant to form them into the fullness of the Christian life and to become disciples of Jesus, their teacher. Please Note: The November 2024 class is canceled and the January 2025 class will not take place on the first Wednesday. That date has been moved.
