High School Confirmation
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults states that the Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist – are the foundation of the Christian life. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world.

EXPECTATIONS
- Attend Confirmation classes/Life Nights and Mass on Sundays from 4:00 - 6:30 pm
- Attend a retreat (specific details will be given out to families each year).
- Attendance at parish events is encouraged.
- Involvement in a liturgical ministry is encouraged.
- Complete the ten hours of community service each year.
- Students & parents/guardians will attend a kickoff at the beginning of the year.

SERVICE HOURS
Students are asked to complete ten hours of community service each year. Not sure where to serve? Our parish provides a variety of ways to earn service hours through events and ministries, including the Parish Festival, Trunk or Treat, GLOWS Thanksgiving Outreach, Liturgical Ministries, and many others. We will frequently highlight these opportunities during Life Nights to help you get involved.
CONFIRMATION SPONSOR
Each Candidate will need to select a Sponsor for Confirmation. Choosing a sponsor is important. We encourage sponsors to meet with his or her candidate as often as possible for support, share their faith story with their candidate, pray for their candidate, present their candidate during the Rite of Confirmation, continue to lend support to their candidate after the Confirmation process is complete, and always continue to encourage the candidate to move forward in his or her faith journey.
Sponsors are eligable if they are:
- at least 16 years old
- a practicing Catholic and has been baptized, received first Eucharist, and confirmed
- not the mother or father of the confirmation student
