Baptism Preparation
The celebration of baptism begins the initiation and faith journey of your child and is a joyful experience for our community of faith, as it brings new life into our parish.
Having your child baptized also marks the beginning of new responsibilities and commitments on the part of you, the parents, and the St. Thomas More Catholic Community. Through this sacrament, our goal is to journey with you and your family in support of your family’s spiritual needs. It is our honor and pleasure to accompany you as you begin to pass on the faith to your child. We take these responsibilities and commitments very seriously and are excited to partner with you in the faith formation of your child.
When do Baptisms take place?
For infants and children under the age of 7, baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 1:30 pm in the Church. There is also the option to schedule a baptism to take place within one of our weekend Masses, if available.
Baptism Preparation Information
Our Baptism Preparation class, which is required, is offered on the first Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise announced, in the Church at 6:30 pm. This class can be attended at any time (even before the baby is born). Both the parents and the godparents need to attend this class. If the godparents belong to another Catholic community, they can attend a baptism preparation class at their parish and provide a letter or certificate of completion. To attend, please fill out the form below.
Godparents
Selecting Godparents should be a well-thought-out decision, ideally someone who will be present for the child's life. Godparents must be at least 16 years old, confirmed in the Catholic church, and practicing the faith. If Godparents are married, they must have been married in the church. You may have one Godfather and one Godmother or just one confirmed Catholic Godparent.
Adult Baptism
Adults must participate in the Becoming Catholic/OCIA program. Please contact Juliann Dwyer or
