On February 2nd, we celebrate a joyful event told in the second chapter of the Gospel of Luke, called The Presentation of the Lord. When Jesus was 40 days old, Mary and Joseph brought him to the Temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. There, they met the righteous Simeon and the prophetess Anna. God rewarded them by allowing them to see the one who was Savior and to hold him in their arms. When the presentation was completed, Mary and Joseph, and Jesus, returned to their hometown. There they created a home and a family life where Jesus grew up, becoming strong and wise, and the grace of God was upon him. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed. Simeon called Jesus “a light to the nations.” This sparked the tradition of blessing enough candles to last an entire year. It is a feast of light and the light of Jesus’ presence in the world has been celebrated on this day for many centuries. We invite you to bring an unlit/ unused candle from home with you or you can purchase a beeswax candle at church on the day of to use for the Mass on Thursday, February 2nd at 8:00 am. There will also be blessed candles for sale for a minimum donation of $5.00 the following weekend while supplies last. Blessing of the Throats is a sacramental of the Roman Catholic Church, ordinarily celebrated on February 3rd, the feast day of Saint Blaise of Sebaste. Blessings are called "sacramentals" because they prepare us to receive the grace of the sacraments and help us to grow to be more like Christ (see Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1670). Our delicious, fresh, Lenten Fish Fry is back starting February 24th! Everyone is welcome! We will be serving up meals in the Community Center each Friday during Lent from 4-7:00 pm. Here’s the menu and prices: Fish & Chips for $12 (2 pieces of fish, coleslaw, fries, and a drink), Baked Ziti for $10 (Ziti, salad, garlic bread, and a drink), Side of Fries for $3, Additional Piece of Fish for $3, and Wine or Beer for $5. Lenten Fish Fry

Our delicious, fresh, Lenten Fish Fry is back starting February 24th! Everyone is welcome! We will be serving up meals in the Community Center each Friday during Lent from 4-7:00 pm. Here’s the menu and prices: Fish & Chips for $12 (2 pieces of fish, coleslaw, fries, and a drink), Baked Ziti for $10 (Ziti, salad, garlic bread, and a drink), Side of Fries for $3, Additional Piece of Fish for $3, and Wine or Beer for $5. The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Confession or Penance) is one of the two healing Sacraments. Reconciliation takes place on Saturdays from 2:30-4:00 pm. If you want an extended period of time to talk to a priest or you need counseling, we recommend calling the Parish Office at 702-361-3022 to schedule a separate appointment. Our priests are happy to spend that time with you.
