PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY

The Parish Social Ministry of St. Thomas More has accepted the call to identify the needs of the people within our own parish community, and to develop and carry out various programs to meet those needs.  This process will be done in accordance with Catholic Social Teaching to achieve the mission and goals of St. Thomas More, as outlined by our parish council and staff.

 Our goals are…

1)     To develop systems/methods to meet the personal needs of St. Thomas More parishioner

2)     To develop a stronger sense of community and fellowship amongst the parishioners of St. Thomas More

Several projects have been undertaken by our committee members.  Current projects include Parenting programs, Bereavement Program, connecting volunteers/newcomers with their ministry of interest, developing an information book that will reference parishioners and the services that they offer, coordinate a Pro-Bono project for parishioners who would be willing to donate some of their professional time to helping other parishioners, and ways to help welcome new parishioners to our parish.  We have many ideas for projects on our “backburner” awaiting time and human resources to address these issues.

If you have any suggestion of ways we are able to bring God’s love to the people of St. Thomas More, please let us know.  Additionally, we are in need of more members of our committee (ie: “planner bees”), as well as, those who would be willing to just be “worker bees” to make our ministry abundant.  You are welcome to take on the planning and implementation of projects, or just be available for smaller tasks like phone calling, typing, mailing, etc. If you are willing to help…in a large or small way…please let us know!  Contact Jane or Bruce Stofferahn at (702) 458-2138 or via email at Bstoff @embarqmail.com.

Our meetings are held at St. Thomas More Community Center on

the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm.  Please join us!
