I am companioning someone who has suffered a loss...

You have expressed your sympathy to your friend, or loved one, on their loss. "I'm sorry" seems to not be enough...what do you do now? In working with the bereaved, many describe their interaction with friends as feeling like "there is an elephant in the room."  Everyone knows it's there,  but they avoid the subject. Where from here...how do you help? How to Help offers to you some practical suggestions on how to help your friend or loved one along the journey of healing.

Often grievers are comforted by a note of encouragement each day. Encourage them to sign up for daily email messages offered at www.griefshare.org . Daily email messages of inspiration and encouragement will arrive at their inbox each day. There is no cost for this service. You will find many thoughts and words that will help you make it through each difficult day.

Stay involved with their lives. Listen...listen... and listen again. Don't judge...or fix. Just listen. You can make a difference, and they will love you for it. God Bless you for your care of those who mourn...
